A City of Craftsmanship: Ota City Traditional Crafts Exhibition

September 9, 2023 (Saturday)

I visited the Ota City Traditional Crafts Exhibition.

Ota City is where I currently live. When people think of Ota City, they might պատկեր it as a “Downtown Rocket”-style area filled with small factories. However, it is actually the largest ward in Tokyo, home to places like Haneda Airport and Denenchofu, as well as many sites rich in culture and history.

In addition, there are many certified traditional craftsmen based here.

As I explored the exhibition and listened to explanations about various crafts, I even discovered artisans who live in my neighborhood, which led to some lively and enjoyable conversations.

Having lived here for over a decade, I’ve recently started to feel more connected to the local community, which makes me very happy.

Next time, I’d love to visit some of their workshops as well.
