A Gathering of Japanese Culture: Waden Festival

July 8, 2023 (Saturday)
The Waden Festival was held at Art Hotel Nippori Lungwood.

This event, organized by the Japan Cultural Stage Support Organization, was a Japanese-style dinner show featuring a wide range of traditional and contemporary cultural performances. These included dance, shigin (poetic chanting), calligraphy, flower arrangement, koto music, as well as dresses and opera inspired by Japanese aesthetics.

Experts from various fields of Japanese culture came together, creating a vibrant and elegant stage.

At this event, I participated in the lobby front show as a “Japanese Cultural Artisan Promoter,” introducing traditional artisans and showcasing their works for exhibition and sale.

The front show took place before and after the main stage performances. Many guests stopped by with interest, allowing me to have meaningful conversations and share insights about the artisans and their crafts.

The artisans who exhibited together this time included:

  • Mr. Takato Kataoka from Kataoka Byobu Co., Ltd.
  • Mr. Masayuki Koizumi from Tougen
  • Kaku Lacquer Studio (represented by me)
  • Mr. Ryusei Kamataki from Ryusei Workshop

Through my work in supporting Japanese culture, I continue to build meaningful connections and deepen my sense of purpose.

I look forward to carrying these experiences forward and developing them into even greater opportunities in the future.

My sincere thanks to all the staff members, participating masters, and everyone who attended the event.
