I visited the Monozukuri: Festival of Craftsmanship 2023, held at the Tokyo International Forum.
The event featured a wide range of booths and hands-on experiences, including traditional craft artisans, as well as organizations and companies involved in craftsmanship related to clothing, food, and housing.
There was also a booth dedicated to Ise Katagami, which originally sparked my interest in Japanese culture. I had the opportunity to watch the artisans at work and listen to their stories, which was truly inspiring.
In addition, I met artisans who are dedicated to preserving tradition, as well as younger craftsmen who have relocated to pursue and refine these traditional skills.
Through their stories and creations, I felt a strong desire to continue learning, experiencing, and deepening my appreciation for their craft and passion.
