About Konnichiwa Japan
Konnichiwa Japan is a cultural exchange event founded by Indian entrepreneur Mr. Markus, with the aim of introducing the beauty of Japanese culture to people in India.
Fascinated by the Japanese language and culture, he later established a travel agency in Japan. For more than 30 years, he has served as a bridge between Japan and India, fostering connections between the two countries.
Through his work guiding numerous Japanese Buddhist scholars and cultural figures on visits to India, he met many Japanese people who had developed a deep affection for the country.
Inspired by these encounters and a desire to give something back, he decided that it was his turn to share the beauty and appeal of Japan with the people of India. This vision became the starting point of Konnichiwa Japan.
In 2026, the event celebrates its 10th anniversary, marking an important milestone. With a renewed commitment to genuine cultural exchange, the event is moving forward into its next decade as a collaborative initiative connecting Japan and India.
This year, I plan to participate alongside Japanese traditional culture performers, supporting their activities and helping share the richness of Japanese culture with audiences in India.
